29 Jun 2026     Author: Astute Analytica

SEDA Experts has added veteran banker Ignacio Maldonado Trinchant as Managing Director, reinforcing its investment banking and capital markets expertise as the firm continues to broaden its global expert witness platform. The appointment brings 24 years of cross-border deal experience into a practice increasingly built around complex financial disputes, equity capital markets, and transaction analysis.

As per Astute Analytica, global  investment banking and trading services market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 6.85% from 2025 to 2035, with total market valuation expected to scale from $424.58 billion in 2026 to over $823.58 billion by the end of 2035.

A strategic Addition

SEDA said Maldonado Trinchant will help deepen the firm’s capabilities in equity capital markets and investment banking, areas that often require highly specialized industry knowledge in litigation and arbitration matters. His arrival also reflects a broader pattern of expansion at the firm, which has been steadily adding senior market practitioners across related financial disciplines over the past year.

The move is notable because SEDA’s business depends not only on technical financial expertise, but also on the credibility of experts who have operated at the center of major transactions. In that sense, Maldonado Trinchant appears to fit the firm’s model: seasoned, globally experienced, and fluent in the language of sophisticated capital markets.

Decades of Global Dealmaking

According to the announcement, Maldonado Trinchant’s career spans major investment banking roles at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Santander Investment Securities in New York, and Santander Investment in Santiago de Chile. His experience covers a wide range of financing and capital markets assignments, including IPOs, rights issues, accelerated bookbuilds, tender offers, convertible bonds, refinancing transactions, acquisition financing, and equity-linked deals.

He also spent nearly seven years in London focused on equity capital markets origination and syndication, rising from Senior Analyst to Vice President. That international background gives him a perspective that extends across Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Turkey, making him especially relevant for disputes involving cross-border capital formation and transaction execution.

Beyond Banking

SEDA noted that Maldonado Trinchant currently serves as Chief Investment Officer of a Madrid-based family office with more than $150 million in real and financial assets. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Finance at IE University in Madrid, which adds an academic dimension to his practical market experience.

That combination can be valuable in expert witness work, where clear explanation matters as much as technical depth. A professional who has both executed transactions and taught finance is well positioned to break down complex market behavior for courts, regulators, and arbitration panels.

Why this Hire Matters?

The addition signals that SEDA is not merely adding names to a roster, it is building a more layered platform for financial disputes support. In practice, this means the firm is likely aiming to cover more of the transaction lifecycle, from capital raising and syndication to valuation, financing structures, and deal process analysis.

It also fits with SEDA’s recent hiring momentum across investment banking, capital markets, and adjacent expert witness areas, suggesting a deliberate strategy to strengthen its bench with senior industry figures. For clients, that can translate into more specialized testimony and more nuanced interpretation of how markets and transactions actually work.
