Stockholm, May 12, 2026 — Milepost AB, Sweden’s first independent electric vehicle (EV) charging operator focused on everyday charging, has announced the acquisition of most of the public EV charging stations owned by Trollhättan Energi. The move strengthens Milepost’s position in Sweden’s rapidly expanding EV infrastructure market.
As per Astute Analytica, electric vehicle charging station market is projected to increase from US$ 63.92 billion in 2025 to US$ 33,283.79 billion by the end of 2050 at a robust CAGR of 29.0% during the forecast period 2026–2050.
The deal includes nearly 60 charging points with capacities of up to 22 kW, primarily designed for everyday charging. These stations are strategically located across central Trollhättan, ensuring convenient access for daily commuters and local residents.

Milepost will work closely with Trollhättan Energi to integrate the acquired charging stations into its existing network. The integration process is expected to be completed by the end of May 2026, enabling a smooth transition and uninterrupted service for users.
Lars Isaksson, Head of Business Development and Operations at Milepost, stated that the agreement reflects a growing trend of utility companies divesting EV charging assets to specialized operators. With this addition, Milepost’s network will expand to approximately 950 charging points across around 60 municipalities in Sweden.
The acquisition highlights a broader shift in the EV ecosystem, where dedicated charging operators are increasingly taking over infrastructure from traditional utilities to enhance efficiency and scalability. For Trollhättan, the collaboration supports local electrification goals and improves access to reliable charging infrastructure.
Milepost’s continued expansion signals its commitment to supporting Sweden’s transition to sustainable mobility. By strengthening its network footprint, the company aims to make every day EV charging more accessible and efficient across the country.
